Dr. Zophia Edwards, Director
Dr. Zophia Edwards is an associate professor of sociology and director of the Black Studies Program. Her research examines the impacts of colonialism and local labor movements on state formation and long-term development in the Global South, with a particular focus on resource-rich countries.
Her areas of academic expertise include comparative historical sociology, sociology of development, postcolonial sociology, labor and labor movements, and race and ethnicity. Dr. Edwards has been a member of the PC faculty since 2015.
